Understand the event format

Some festivals use a walk-around tasting format, while others organize seated seminars, winery dinners, trail stops, or timed sessions. Read the organizer’s current rules before buying a ticket.

Compare what the ticket includes

Check whether admission includes a tasting glass, a fixed number of samples, unlimited small pours, food, seminars, entertainment, parking, or transportation. “VIP” varies significantly by event.

Plan food, water, and pacing

Eat beforehand unless substantial food is included, drink water throughout the event, and remember that tasting pours accumulate. Spitting wine during evaluation is normal and helps attendees taste responsibly.

Arrange transportation before arrival

Use a designated driver, event shuttle, rideshare, taxi, public transportation, or nearby lodging. Never rely on deciding after the tasting.
